On display January 11 – 31
sponsored by Connection Bank
The Budding Artist exhibition of artwork from ages K through 7th grade is on display beginning Saturday, January 11 and will continue through Friday, January 31. This annual showcase of local student work is a favorite for the Art Center, along with students, their parent and grandparents alike. The Opening Reception for this show was held on Saturday, January 11 from 1pm to 4pm. Attendees enjoyed cookies and punch while taking in the wide variety of art created by our area’s youngest artists. This year’s exhibition features work from Fort Madison Community School District, Central Lee, and Nauvoo-Calusa School District (Illinois.) Area elementary and middle school Art instructors do an excellent job supporting the creative development of youth. These instructors develop creative opportunities for their students with plenty of room for personal interpretation and expression. Each year, the show comes together over months as the instructors identify specific projects or exemplary student artwork to save pieces for this winter-time exhibition. This can take quite a bit of effort from each instructor to collect representative examples from a wide cross section of students to share from throughout the school year (and sometimes from the previous spring,) and the FMAAA is grateful for their efforts so that we can provide this exhibition for the community.
